From 6 to 7 February, the PI of the GlossIT project, Bernhard Bauer, attended the conference The Karlsruhe Bede in Context: Cod. Aug. Perg. 167 .The Making of a Ninth-Century Manuscript at Trinity College in Dublin.
In his lecture Here, there, and everywhere: Positioning the Karlsruhe Bede within the Early Medieval. Glossing Tradition on Bede, he not only presented the GlossIT project, but also showed the first project results. He focussed in particular on parallel glosses on Bede's De Temporum Ratione.
As always, the presentation can be viewed in the GlossIT Zenodo Community.
4 days later, on 10 February, Bernhard Bauer presented the digital HTR/OCR tool eScriptorium, an open source software developed as part of the projects Scripta und RESILIENCE at the Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, at the University of Maynooth as part of the workshop Digitally Transcribing and Editing Medieval Sources. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the eScriptorium team for providing us with training log-ins. In the GlossIT project, we use the tool for the digital capture, segmentation and transcription of manuscripts. During the workshop, participants were able to familiarise themselves with the tool hands-on and take a first look at digital source indexing using OCR/HTR.
The event was co-financed by Taighde Éireann and Arqus European University Alliance.
